Laurie – You state that you “do not think that the purpose of instructional design is to always include technology such as computers and devices in instruction”, and I can totally understand that. I completely support the idea of technology in a classroom, and mind you – I went to school when the most technology in my classroom was a television and an overhead projector. Iphones and text messages were decades away, however I believe the most important issue is for the student to obtain the information being taught – with or without technology, and I’m proof of the fact that one can get a good education without it. In fact, the truth is that with the amount of technology we’re easily able to access – it’s a lot easier to make good grades effortlessly because we are able to search for solutions for any kind of problem. This takes away from the research and learning process we once had to do. It’s true that using technology is beneficial but it shouldn't be a “requirement” per se.
